 And Why?

A glass of iced water

I know that you know how important it is to drink a substantial amount of water daily. Unfortunately, despite the knowledge, many people forget to pay attention to this fact. Let’s see what happens to our bodies if we don’t drink enough water:

1.Your skin ages sooner.

Skin, just like every other tissue in our bodies, contains water. People with dry and aging skin usually don’t drink enough of it. The skin consists of three layers; when the outermost layer doesn’t contain enough water, it loses its elasticity. The outer layer of the skink needs water to carry nutrients to the skin cells and flush away toxins. Dry skin gets more sensitive to irritants and germs that can quickly get through the lipid barrier.

2. Your digestion system can’t work correctly.

When the body is dehydrated, it can not process food properly simply because digestive acid needs water. Also, it has a hard time removing waste correctly. Your kidney needs water to filter toxins while retaining nutrients and electrolytes.

Dehydration can result in hard stools and constipation. In the case of diarrhea, you need water to recover faster because you lose lots of it.

3. Dehydration is one of the major causes of headaches and migraines.

Even mild dehydration can cause a headache. When your body lacks water, your tissues, particularly your brain (which resembles fat tissue a lot), shrink. As your brain shrinks, it pulls your skull, which puts pressure on nerves and causes pain. By the way, that is why hangovers are so painful. Alcohol retains water from your brain and the liquid surrounding it, making it dry and sensitive. When you drink water, the brain plumps up to the previous size, and the pain disappears.

4. Dehydration slows post-workout recovery.

Water helps lower your temperature and heart rate prevents muscle cramps (by balancing electrolytes), eases fatigue, and lubricates joints. When you recover, your body produces new cells, which need water and lots of nutrients from the bloodstream. It’s hard for blood to carry nutrients around when it’s thick because of the lack of water in your body.

5. Weigh loss.

60% of your body is composed of water. That means that water plays an efficient role in the body’s function. The more hydrated you are, the more efficiently it works, which includes metabolism and fat burn. Water helps suppress your appetite, reduces overall lipid calorie intake, helps you during exercise, and removes waste.

I can go on and on talking about water and its benefits. And I’m pretty sure you can add a few of them yourselves. I want to remind you to drink constantly throughout the day. If you feel thirsty, it means you are already way behind. I hope you are sipping on your water while reading this article. Cheers to that, my dear friend!!!
